  • NHL Career

    Tanguay was drafted twelfth overall in the first round of the 1998 NHL entry draft by the Colorado Avalanche. He scored his first NHL goal on October 8, 2000, and finished the season as the number two top-scoring rookie in the league.

    During the final game of the 2001 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Tanguay scored two goals and assisted on the third, making him instrumental in the team's cup win.

    Tanguay remained with the Avalanche until 2006, when he was traded to the Calgary Flames. During the 2008 NHL draft, he was traded with a draft pick to the Montreal Canadiens for one 2008 and one 2009 draft selection.
