  • Aleš Hemský is a professional hockey player originally from the Czech Republic. He plays right wing for the Edmonton Oilers in the National Hockey League.

    Hemský was drafted 13th overall by the Oilers during the first round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft and made his NHL debut in the 2002-2003 season. He played 59 games and earned 30 points during his rookie year and increased his point total to 34 points the following season.

    After playing in his home country during the locked out 2004-2005 season, Hemský returned to Edmonton for a record year. He earned 94 points in 105 games as the Oilers made it to the final game of the 2006 Stanley Cup Championships before losing to the Carolina Hurricanes. In October of 2007, Hemský was named an alternate captain of the team and during the 2007-2008 season, he placed first among his teammates in both points and assists.
