Albertsons supermarkets, founded in 1939, is part of the second largest grocery retail chain in the United States. As of April of 2006, the over 500 stores of Albertsons became a subsidiary of SuperValu, which runs about 2,500 stores consisting of the grocery store chains known as Jewel Osco, Cub Foods, Shop n'Save, Biggs and others.
