Albert Snow, a former Arkansas Tech University chemistry professor, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for attempted enticement of a minor. Snow participated in online conversations with an individual he thought was a 15 year-old girl. However, the individual was actually an undercover police officer. Snow was arrested at an apartment complex where he had gone to attempt to make contact with the minor.
Sentencing Minimum
Previously, the mandatory minimum sentence for enticement of a minor was five years. However, the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act , which was passed on July 27, 2006, increased the minimum sentence for crimes of child enticement. The act is named after the son of actor John Walsh, who was abducted from a Florida shopping mall and murdered.
