  • Albert Pujols is the first baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals. Pujols was named MVP of the National League for 2008. He also won the award in 2005.

  • Early Life

    Jose Alberto Pujols Alcantara was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on January 16, 1980. He moved to United States in the 1990's, and attended Fort Osage High School, then later Maple Woods Community College.
  • Pro Career

    Pujols was selected with the 402nd pick in the 1999 draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. He spent several years in the minors winning the Single - A Midwest League Most Valuable Player award in 1999. He would make the Big League team in 2001 and eventually winning the National League Rookie of the Year. It would be the first of many accolades to come in his illustrious career. In 2005, he was named the National League Most Valuable Player and he would win a World Series Championship in 2006. As of 2008, he has been elected to six All-Star teams and he has won three Silver Slugger Awards, winning in 2001, 2003, and 2004, and the Gold Glove Award for 2006.
  • Roberto Clemente Award

    On October 25, 2008, it was announced by Major League Baseball that Pujols had won the 2008 Roberto Clemente Award. Pujols was presented the award during Game 3 of the 2007 World Series.
