The Albany River Rats are a minor league hockey team in the American Hockey League. The team plays home games at the Times Union Center in Albany, New York, and is an affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes in the National Hockey League.
On February 19, 2009, a bus carrying the team reportedly hit a guardrail on I-90 in Massachusetts and rolled over. Three people were seriously injured and 29 others were taken to the hospital for observation.USA Today: Bus with AHL Team Aboard Crashes in Mass.
