  • Health Problems

Alaskan malamutes are prone to hip displaysia, much like other larger breeds. They may experience snow nose, where pink or red spots appear on their normally black nose, due to sun exposure. Snow nose is normal and generally goes away on its own. Some Alaskan malamutes may experience bloating.
  • Sports or Activities

Much like their original intent, modern day Alaskan malamutes are used as sled dogs. They can be kept as family pets, but require plenty of attention and exercise. They have been known to suffer from separation anxiety and can be quite destructive if left alone for extended periods of time.Dog Breed Info Center: Alaskan Malamute
