The midterm election held on Nov. 2, 2010 had Alaskans voting for 1 senate seat as well as 1 house seat and governor. The senate race was between Joe Miller (R), Scott McAdams (D), and incumbent senator Lisa Murkowski (R) who ran as a write-in. 2008 Senate Election Results
The race between Stevens and Begich was extremely close, with election returns on the morning of November 5, 2008, showing Stevens leading Begich by just one percent. After a recount which lasted two weeks, it appears that Democratic challenger and Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich has defeated incumbent Republican Ted Stevens in the 2008 Alaskan Senate race. Begich currently leads Stevens by 3,724 votes, with a margin of 47.8 to 46.6.
