Actor and model Alan Landers aka the "Winston Man" posed in the Winston cigarette print advertisements in the 1960s and 1970s. Landers died after a battle with throat cancer on February 27, 2009. Cigarette Lawsuit
Alan Landers was one of the 9,000 victims who sued cigarette makers for neglecting to warn consumers that cigarette smoke was dangerous and possibly deadly. In 2006, the Florida Supreme Court threw the case out but recommended that the individual file suits separately.
