Al Jazeera is a news television network based in Doha, Qatar. Initially launched as an exclusively Arabic news channel, Al Jazeera has expanded to include several regionally-specific broadcasts in multiple languages. The station garnered worldwide attention following September 11, 2001 when it broadcast videotaped statements by Osama bin Laden.

Founded in 2006, Al Jazeera English is the first English-language news and currant affairs channel to be headquartered in the Middle East. The 24-hour station rotates its management team from broadcasting centers in Kuala Lumpar, London and Washington DC.
