  • Comedian and Minnesota Senate candidate Al Franken reportedly had a hand in creating the Darrell Hammond John McCain skit that opened the September 20, 2008 episode of Saturday Night Live. Although Franken did not write the skit, the idea came from Franken as he was recording ads for his own Senate campaign.
