  • Al Davis is the owner and president of the Oakland Raiders in the National Football League.

    On December 28, 2008, the Oakland Raiders announced that Al Davis would not attend the football game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Oakland Raiders. It is the first game that he has missed since 1979. Davis is recovering from swelling in his right ankle and knee. Doctors advised him to miss the trip to avoid further swelling which would be caused by flying to Tampa. Raiders executive John Herrera stated, "I can't emphasize this enough. He's feeling good.   • Brief Biography

    Al Davis previously coached the Oakland Raiders from 1963-65 in the American Football League. Davis spent a short time in 1966 as commissioner of the AFL before returning to the Raiders as part owner and head of football operations. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1992.
