Al-Anon is a fellowship for the family and friends of alcoholics. It includes Alateen, a fellowship for younger members. The program of recovery is based on the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Background
Wifes and close relatives of Alcoholics Anonymous members realized that in order to solve their personal problems they needed to practice the same principles as the alcoholic. While they had been meeting since the beginning of A.A., they officially organized and choose the name Al-Anon in 1951.
