• Akon is a popular hip-hop/R&B artist and producer from Dakar, Senegal. His debut album, Trouble, was released in 2004. His second album, "Konvicted" made him a nominee for the Grammy Awards. In 2005, Akon co-founded the record label Konvict Muzik. A year later, he founded a second record label known as Kon Live Distribution.

• Guilty Plea

  Akon was charged for tossing a 15-year-old male fan into the crowd at a concert in June 2007. The boy hit a female fan resulting in her suffering a concussion.
