Ahmad Brooks NFL Career

In 2009 Brooks posted career numbers in multiple categories, establishing himself as a bonafide threat to sack the quarterback on any given play. After playing sparingly over the first 11 games, Brooks got regular playing time in the final five games of the season. In those games he sacked the quarterback five times, including three against the Arizona Cardinals on December 14. He also forced a total of four fumbles over the year, tying a 49ers linebacker single season record previously set by Manny Lawson.

The 49ers claimed Brooks off of Waivers on August 31, 2008 from the Cincinnati Bengals. Though Brooks showed a lot of promise during practice, he was kept inactive for the majority of the season, and finished the year not having played a single down.

In 2007 Brooks saw limited action, playing in only two games as a starter before suffering a groin injury that nagged him the entire season. He was placed on injured reserve in November and finished the year with six tackles and one sack.

In 2006 Brooks started four games as a rookie in place of and injured Brian Simmons. When Simmons returned Brooks was kept in the starting lineup and Simmons was moved to another position. Brooks played in 11 games total, starting five. He finished with 31 total tackles, still a career high, one sack, and two passes defensed.http://www.49ers.com/team/roster/ahmad-brooks/f721f9db-d51e-4ab5-9b23-b1dcf7c4f12f/
