The protagonist's journey in Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures begins on Tortage Beach with the "Shipwrecked" quest. This is an ideal adventure for beginners, as it teaches players how to deal with easier one-on-one battles, allowing them to gain skill before they progress into multiple enemy encounters. Item acquisition is introduced, as well as object interaction with various chests and quest items. The dialog is also quite entertaining along the way. Once character selection and customization is complete, a man named Kalanthes will approach as you are laying face down on a beach, unaware of your identity or your past. He tells you that you have been shipwrecked in the Barachan Isles on the Island of Tortage, and that you should journey to the city of Tortage to learn about your past and the strange mark on your chest. The slavemaster who held you captive on the ship has begun his journey to the main city of Tortage, where slaves are not welcome. Should he reach the city before you, you will not be allowed access and will die in the jungle. Your first quest is to kill the slavemaster before he reaches the city. If you manage to gain access to the city prior to the slavemaster, find a woman by the name of Nadini and tell her that Kalanthes of Ibis sent you. Reward: 154 xp
