Aftershave is a liquid, lotion, gel or cream used to prevent infection after shaving. An infection can occur due to small cuts or damaged skin from the razor. Many aftershaves contain an antiseptic, fragrance and lotion to soothe the skin. It has been said that applying aftershave helps to prevent razor burn. A substance much like the present aftershave was used by ancient Egyptians to cleanse a dead body before it was soaked in natron and wrapped in linen.
Safety Warning

When using aftershave, ensure it does not make contact with the eyes. If it does make contact with the eyes, ensure they are flushed well with water. Due to the alcohol content in most aftershaves, burning may occur when applied to the skin.
