Reception
Afro Samurai received an average review from IGN.com on January 27, 2009. Though the reviewer praised the game's visual style and found the action essentially fun and satisfying, there were too many minor drawbacks to give the game a full recommendation. The boss battles are cheap and frustrating, and the platforming sections are poorly designed and break the flow of the fun swordplay.
"Don't doubt that there is fun to be had with Afro Samurai, but be ready to deal with a lot of lame to get to it," the review concluded.IGN: Afro Samurai Review (January 27, 2009)
