Focus mode in the Xbox 360 and PS3 game Afro Samurai is a special mode the player can enter in order to pull off more devastating attacks.
Focus Mode Details

Like many games in the third-person action genre, Afro Samurai has a special mode, entitled Focus Mode, that enables the player to do more damage than they would normally be able to do with standard attacks. In order to execute Focus Mode, the player must fill up a meter by hacking and slashing at enemies. Once the meter is full, Afro's sword will glow white, alerting the player that he or she can now enter Focus Mode.
There are two levels to the Focus Mode. The first, called In-Focus, turns the cel-shading from color to black and white, slows time and gives you accurate swordplay, meaning you can target specific limbs on an enemy to attack, rather than just the enemy himself. The second level is called Over-Focus, and this level basically brings your enemies to a complete standstill while you can run about slicing off limbs left and right.
