Afro Samurai is a revenge story set in a fictional feudal Japan with modern elements. Afro is a samurai who is trying to avenge the death of his father by becoming the Number One. The Number One samurai has the powers of a god and rules over the world, but Afro's quest isn't to become all-powerful. As a child, Afro witnessed the death of his father, the former Number One, at the hands of a man named Justice, who severed Afro's father head right before his eyes. Justice became Number One, and since then Afro has been training for the day when he can avenge his father's death and become the new Number One.
