  • The Afghan Whigs were a Cincinnati-based alternative rock band of the 1990s led by frontman Greg Dulli. After releasing their first album independently, the Whigs signed with small Seattle record label Sup Pop (famous for signing bands such as Nirvana and Soundgarden) and released their second album in 1990. They developed a cult following through constant touring and eventually upgraded to major label Elektra Records and later Columbia Records.

In 2001, the Afghan Whigs officially disbanded because the band members each lived in different locations. They reunited briefly in 2006 to promote a new compilation album of their old material. Members have made it clear they have no plans, present or future, to reunite past that.
