Aerial Wolf Gunning

  • Aerial wolf gunning is the practice of hunting and shooting wolves from airplanes. An aerial wolf-gunning team is usually a two-member team, one person flies the plane and the other person shoots the animals. In 1972 Congress passed the Federal Airborne Hunting Act, which made it illegal for hunters to shoot animals from a plane or helicopter. However, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has proposed legislation and cash incentives to encourage aerial wolf gunning in her state. Slate: Aerial Wolf Gunning 101 (September 2, 2008)
