Adventureland is a comedy set in the summer of 1987 and follows a recent college graduate, James Brennan, who ends up working at a local amusement park instead of an European trip. There he falls in love with his coworker Em, played by Kristen Stewart, and learns that his low wage job is worthwhile. The film has the same director, Greg Mottola, as the hit film Superbad.
The trailer for Adventureland begins with the the James Brennan telling his parents that he underestimated the cost for his planned Europe trip for his college graduation. He parents reply with the demand that he goes out and finds a job. Discouraged by his over qualifications for entry level jobs, he walks into Adventureland the local amusement park. He is hired on the spot and soon learns the ins and outs of the park, including meeting his new co-worker Em.
