Advent Coloring pages and crafts can be an excellent way to get children involved in the spirit of the liturgical season of Advent. Everyone in the family can participate in making crafts to mark the season, like Advent wreaths with beautiful candles, or Advent calendars to help keep track of the days before Christmas. Mahalo's page contains links to sites that offer free coloring pages to download and print, and pages that offer creative crafts for both kids and adults. Children may enjoy coloring Advent pages and then displaying them around the house as Advent decorations.
About Advent
The Christian liturgical season of Advent begins in the weeks leading up to Christmas Day. The holiday period marks the beginning of the church year for most Western churches. Advent is considered a devotional period of anticipation of and reflection on, the coming birth of Jesus.CRI/Voice, Institute: The Christian Season of Advent
Advent is observed using traditional symbols of the holiday. Advent calendars are used to mark the days remaining in the season - some of those calendars are wooden. Advent candles are often placed in special Advent wreaths to mark the passing of each Sunday leading up to Christmas. Each candle has a specific color for each of the four Advent Sundays.
