This chapter is basically a tutorial - it will display helpful information on the top screen of your DS as you progress. First, retreat two spaces west, then end your turn. Brenner and Lin will arrive.
On your next turn, take the Tank and move it to attack the enemy Recon unit. Move your Recon unit up and finish off the enemy Recon, then end your turn.
Now, attack the Bike from the north with your Tank, and use your Recon unit to finish it off from the west. Clean up by defeating the Infantry to obtain the S-rank for Chapter One.
Chapter Two - A Single Life
Start by placing your Tank directly in front of the enemy Infantry, and attack. Move your own Infantry up into the mountains and finish off the enemy Infantry from the south. Place your Artillery just south of your Tank, and end your turn.
Move your Infantry unit to the ruins just east of its location, and watch the cutscene. Use the Artillery to destroy the enemy Recon that's furthest north, then attack the remaining enemy Recon unit with your Tank before ending your turn.
Finish off the remaining enemy Recon with your Tank, and use your Artillery to hit whatever is above the enemy Recon you just attacked. End your turn, and on the next turn, eliminate the Recon with your Tank and attack the enemy Bike unit with your Artillery.
Finally, finish off the enemy Bike unit with your Tank to obtain the S-rank for Chapter Two.
Chapter Three - Freehaven
From your starting position, bring each of your Tanks up and attack the enemy Infantry units just north of each. Bring up each of your Mech units to finish off these Infantry units from the sides, then pull your Artillery north two spaces to form a line with your Tanks. End your turn.
The enemy will advance, but won't be in range to attack. Hit the closest enemy Recon unit with your Artillery, then finish it off with a Tank from the west. Bring your other Tank north as well, placing it due south of your first Tank. Move your western Mech to the road, and keep the other Mech in the mountains. End your turn.
Again, the enemy won't be able to attack this turn due to range. Place your Artillery in the gap in the mountains, then attack the next Recon unit in line with your Mech on the road from the south. Finish that Recon off with your low-ranked Tank from the west. Use your Mech in the mountain terrain to attack the Recon north of its position, then use the Tank that hasn't moved to attack the enemy Tank from the west. End your turn.
You'll probably lose the lesser-ranked Tank this turn, but you can make up for it. Attack the last enemy Tank with your Artillery, then use your Tank to finish off the last enemy Recon. Use the Mechs to attack the enemy Artillery from the west. End your turn.
Have a Mech flank the enemy Artillery and attack it from the north to destroy it. Use your Artillery to attack one of the enemy Bikes, then finish up with your Tank and remaining unused Mech. Depending on how the enemy moved, you might need to use another turn to finish off the last enemy Bike, but you'll still obtain the S-rank on Chapter Three.
Chapter Four - Moving On
This is your first Fog of War mission. Enemies in the dark areas are concealed, and even if you know where they are, you can't attack them unless they are made visible.
First, select your Flare unit, and fire a flare as far north as you can. It should uncover an enemy Mech and Bike near your Infantry to the north. Have that Infantry unit sweep west to attack the enemy Mech from the north - this will reveal an enemy Recon. Pull your own Recon in the south up to either kill the enemy Mech or weaken it for a quick kill on your next turn. Do not end your turn yet.
Move your Artillery unit one space north, and another enemy Bike unit should be uncovered at this point. Use your closest Mech unit to attack this Bike from the west, then move your Tank north to have it kill the Bike off from the north to rank up. Move your remaining Infantry into the mountains and end your turn.
The enemy forces will most likely kill off your Infantry scout to the north, so have the Recon clean up the Mech if it wasn't already destroyed. Use your Artillery to attack the Bike, and use Infantry in the mountain terrain to finish it off. Attack the enemy Recon close by with your Tank for another rank, and move all your remaining units closer to the center. End your turn.
Use the easiest method to defeat the remaining enemy Recon, and you'll obtain the S-rank on Chapter Four.
Chapter Five - New Allies
NOTE: From here on out, the battles become longer, take place on larger maps, and the AI becomes random. No two games will play out the same, so instead, these walkthroughs will be broken into stages to obtain S-rank.
Stage I - New Allies
Start by capturing the Factory with a Mech unit and sending the Infantry and Bike units to capture the two nearby buildings.
You'll complete the capture of these three buildings on the next turn, so go ahead and move the rest of your units up a bit - even after the enemy begins pushing forward, you should still be out of range of any attacks.
Stage I - Fear Experiment
Start by moving two Infantry units north to capture the factory and one of the adjacent buildings. Move your Bike and the other Infantry to capture the two buildings south of your starting position, and use the rest of your units to build a defensive perimeter with Artillery behind it.
After you capture the buildings, build some Bikes to capture even more of them. Get some tanks ranked up, and place them in good defensive terrain positions. When you control more buildings than your enemy, start making Tanks.
Keep your ranked Tanks on top of captured buildings to keep them in good repair - you'll be able to destroy incoming enemy units and rank up your tanks in nine turns without breaking a sweat.
Stage II - New Allies
With the three buildings captured, you can begin building new units with the factory. Bait the enemy to advance towards you and crush them with ranked units sitting on top of captured buildings for repairs.
Keep your ranked units on top of captured buildings to ensure they get repaired each turn and prevent enemy units from capturing your buildings.
Keep an Artillery unit or two in range of attacking any enemy Infantry and Bike units that will move forward to capture buildings. There are two enemy Artillery units that flank the enemy base throughout the match - build a Bike and slip it in there. The Artillery units won't be able to attack, and you'll have the base in no time for an easy S-rank on Chapter Five.
Stage II - Fear Experiment
After you defeat the last unit, the foe will drop two Md Tanks and a War Tank in the southeast of the map. If you've kept your units close enough, they won't be able to hit you on the same turn they're deployed.
On the second turn after the enemy deploys the Md Tanks and War Tank, produce Anti-Tank units, and use them and your ranked Tanks to take on the enemy forces. If you have enough buildings captured, you can easily make one Anti-Tank unit every turn.
Stay out of their movement range, then attack them on the next turn to mow through these forces and complete Chapter Six.
Chapter Six - Fear Experiment
You'll start on rather even footing with your foe here - there's even a factory nearby.
Chapter Seven - A Kind of Home
There are tons of new units at your disposal during this chapter. Three new planes, a helicopter, anit-air units and missile units, as well as rockets. Check the information of each to determine their weaknesses and strengths before you start moving around.
Stage I - A Kind of Home
The enemy base is in the northeast of the map. In order to obtain S-rank, you're going to want to capture it as soon as possible.
Use your Infantry to capture the three buildings south of your base, then use Missiles to destroy the Bomber. Use your anti-air unit against he Duster, then build a few Bikes and end your turn.
Stage II - A Kind of Home
Take your Bikes and head north, occupying the buildings, and building Tanks and/or Recons to escort the Bikes to the enemy base. Use your anti-air units and Tanks to protect your Infantry as they move to capture the two buildings just south of the center of the map, as well as take out a few of the enemy's air units.
To capture the base, place a Bike on top of it, and surround it on all four sides with sacrificial units. Even if these units get destroyed, your unharmed Bike will still have the turn needed to capture the base and snag the S-rank for Chapter Seven.
Chapter Eight - A New Threat
Be careful - there's Fog of War on this mission. The base you need to capture to win is in the southeast corner of the map, and a river is preventing you from sending ground units north.
Stage I - A New Threat
First, the river blocking your ground units to the north has two factories just beyond it to allow for unit production there. Use your Transport Helicopters to fly Infantry units over there, escorting them with your Helicopter to help clear out any enemies you come in contact with.
Use the remaining Infantry to occupy the nearby buildings for additional revenue for unit construction, and move your Tank and Recon to the bridge that leads west, keeping them near the middle and out of range of the enemy Artillery units.
Keep capturing buildings, and build a Rocket unit as soon as possible to join the Tank and Recon you have sitting on the bridge. After that, keep making Tanks, anti-tank units, and other ground units in the south to form a convoy on the bridge.
Stage II - A New Threat
Advance the convoy of ground units on the bridge west, keeping the Rocket unit near the back. Use the Rockets to aid the units up front while keeping it out of range of enemy attacks.
Up north, you'll only have to deal with enemy Infantry, so keep capturing buildings and build some Bikes to bring up the rear of your bridge convoy.
Build Tanks in the north to take on the enemy Infantry, and Tanks, anti-tank units, and Rocket units in the south to send across the bridge. Use the Rockets to take out the enemy anti-tank units, and capture the enemy base when you get the chance, using the same tactic as before - place a unit on top of it, and surround it on all four sides with sacrificial units.
Chapter Nine - The Beast
This level provides some learning experience with using your various air units and their supporting structure, the airport. Since your foe has very limited ability to attack your air units, and no airports, it's a simple fight.
Stage I - The Beast
Take note that you only have two Infantry units, and no way to make more of them. Take care of them - if you lose them, you lose the ability to capture buildings. Send one east and one south and start capturing every building you come across.
Deploy the Rig unit in the south to build an airport - you can use the airport to resupply and repair your air units when they take damage and run low on HP, Gas, or ammunition.
If you want, you can destroy the enemy Rig before it gets the opportunity to start building, but it doesn't have much effect on the outcome of the battle. Instead, use your Bombers to take out the Missile Launchers and anti-air units the enemy has.
While your Bombers are keeping those targets occupied, take your Helicopters and Jets and attack the enemy air units as they advance - you should be able to rank up pretty easily this way.
Stage II - The Beast
As long as you have buildings captured to keep revenue rolling in, you should be able to continuously build Bombers, and use them on the enemy units with surface-to-air attacks. Finish off any remaining units to finish Chapter Nine.
Chapter Ten - Almost Home
This chapter is more difficult to get an S-rank in - the enemy starts with moderate production ability that can lock you in a long battle.
Stage I - Almost Home
To avoid getting stuck in a long, drawn-out fight, move your forces towards the center of the map and capture the factory, airport and surrounding buildings, bring your air units down from the north.
When you get the opportunity, you're going to use a Transport Copter to drop an Infantry unit on the enemy base, using the Transport Copter as a sacrificial unit on one side. Flank the base on the exposed three sides with ranked units or heavier units capable of surviving a round of attack. Keep this in mind.
Stage II - Almost Home
You can use Bombers to soften up the targets as you move them into position to defend the sides of the enemy base for when you drop your Infantry off there to capture it. Move your air and anti-air units around the north side of yoru base, and build Tanks and anti-air to rock the enemy air units.
Start producing your Bombers, and use them to take out the enemy War Tank - if you take out the anti-air units along the route to the base, you'll be able to attempt for a capture around 10 to 15 turns. Don't allow the battle to go more than 20 turns or you'll lose the chance for S-rank, and possibly victory.
Chapter Eleven - A Storm Brews
There aren't any production buildings on this map - in fact, it's smaller and faster-paced as well. it plays more as a tutorial to give you more experience using naval units, so be sure to check out their information, especially the Gunship and Landers.
Stage I - A Storm Brews
Gunships can carry an Infantry unit, and Landers can carry two units, including Tanks and Rockets. Load a Lander with a Rocket and Md Tank unit, and the other with an Infantry and Tank unit, then move them south.
Use your Md Tank to lead the assault on the enemy forces, with your Rocket unit behind to smash the enemy Artillery. Since the path is narrow and the Md Tank is powerful, you should get through without any problems.
Stage II - A Storm Brews
Capture a building if necessary to allow the Md Tank to do repairs, and when the road opens up, slide your Infantry unit on top of the enemy base to capture.
Protect your Infantry unit from any remaining enemy forces using your Md Tank, Tank, and Rocket units. This is an easy map, so enjoy your easy win and S-rank on Chapter Eleven.
Chapter Twelve - History of Hate
Another short match focused on naval battles with no production buildings. You'll be introduced to the Submarine in this chapter, so get acquainted with it when you start.
Stage I - History of Hate
Submarines can dive to conceal their positions - you'll want to use that to your advantage, especially considering that any enemy unit that encounters a submerged Submarine will immediately have its turn ended and won't get to attack.
Use your subs to protect paths in front of bait units - submerge a sub, move it east, and follow it with another naval unit. When the enemy moves forward to attack your naval unit, they'll encounter the sub, lose their chance to attack, and give you the opportunity to pick them apart.
Stage II - History of Hate
Use your Battleship effeciently - the enemy has several of them, so don't get too aggressive. Bait and lure with your naval units and submerged submarines, and take out the enemy air units with your own, using Waylon's squadron to help bolster your forces.
Use your two Rigs to keep your naval units healthy, and you shouldn't have too much difficulty winning this match. Don't get too aggressive, and use your units efficiently with the bait and lure tactic to achieve victory in Chapter Twelve.
Chapter Thirteen - Greyfield Strikes
You'll start with a port and a factory, with another port and factory on the small island northwest of your main base. You can win via capture rather easily on this map.
Stage I - Greyfield Strikes
Boost up your production by sending a Lander loaded with two Infantry units west to the island there and capture the factory and one other building. Load another Lander with two more Infantry and send them to the island northwest of your position to capture the port and factory there.
Don't get too aggressive with your naval units as it is now - the enemy won't try to push forward either, so build a defensive perimeter with your naval units and repel any attacks.
Stage II - Greyfield Strikes
Keep capturing any remaining buildings on the islands with your Infantry. When your production revenue is decent, start producing Battleships from both islands. Load a Lander with two Md Tanks, and another with two Infantry.
Send the Battleships out to destroy the enemy units in the northeast portion of the map, then have your two Landers unload on the shoreline. Use the Md Tanks to cover your Infantry while they capture the enemy base for an easy win in Chapter Thirteen.
