Adriana Barraza is a Mexican actress who was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role as a nanny forced to take care of the children of Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett in the 2006 drama Babel. Prior to acting, Barraza directed theater in Mexico City.

Brief Biography
Born in Toluca, Mexico in 1956, Barraza married Arnaldo Pike and raised a daughter while her husband taught philosophy at the Universidad Autonoma de Chihuahua. She became a fixture in Mexican soap operas or telenovelas, until she was cast in Alejandro González Iñárritu's 2000 film Amores Perros. The film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Feature Film, and Iñárritu again cast Barraza, this time in Babel.
