  • Adrian Aucoin was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the fifth round of the National Hockey League Entry Draft in 1992. Although he was attending Boston University on a hockey scholarship, he chose to return to Canada and play for the national team.

Aucoin played on the gold-winning Canadian team at the 1993 World Juniors, then won a silver medal representing Canada in the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway.

  • Early NHL Career

Aucoin joined his team in Vancouver in 1995 and slowly made his way up the ranks, becoming an integral part of the Canucks' defense. During the 1998-1999 season, Aucoin was first in defensive scoring with 23 goals, 18 of which were on the power play, tying the all-time League record for power play goals scored by a defenseman. That same year, he was at the top of the League's defensemen in both game-winning goals (three) and shorthanded goals (two).
  • Moving Around

The following season, Aucoin's numbers were not nearly as impressive and he was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning. After playing a mere 26 games with the Lightning, he was traded to the New York Islanders, where he again became a defensive powerhouse and earned a career high of 44 points during the 2003-2004 season.

After the lockout of 2004-2005, Aucoin joined the struggling Chicago Blackhawks, where he became team captain. After two seasons in Chicago, Aucoin was traded to the Calgary Flames prior to the 2007-2008 season.
