  • Adidas, based in Herzogenaurach, Germany, is the second largest sportswear manufacturer in the world. Adidas was founded by Adolf Dassler, who started making his own sports shoes in his mother's kitchen. In 1924 he partnered with his brother, Rudolf, and soon opened their own company called "Dazzler Brothers' Shoe Factory". Not getting along, the brothers split in 1948 with Rudolf forming Puma Shoes, and Adolf forming Adidas. Adidas was official registered as adidas, all in lower case, on August 18, 1949.
