Guru on GetGlue.com Achieving Guru status on a Glue topic comes with additional privileges. The Guru has the option of making recommendations for related topics and expanding the text content. In addition Gurus may be included in daily giveaways. Daily giveaways include books provided by publishers and movie tickets provided by studios. For each book or movie included in a giveaway, a number of GetGlue objects are selected that are related to the item. The Guru for each object is put into a random drawing. The items are given away each day and the winning Gurus are notified by a message on their profile page and all winners are announced in the official blog.

On May 10, 2010 GetGlue developers deployed a new API that includes support for Facebook Open Graph Protocol. The API allows data to be collected for objects from over 300 GetGlue supported sites that have support for AB Metadata. The GetGlue API creates output in either XML or JSON format.
