Greek schoolteacher Adamantia Karkali was allegedly beheaded by her boyfriend, Thanassis Arvanitis, after a heated argument. Arvanitis also allegedly beheaded Karkali's dog, and then paraded through the streets of the Santorini village of Vourvoulos with Karkali's head.BBC News: Santorini 'Butcher' Gravely Ill (August 4, 2008)
Arvanitis's Capture
After beheading Karkali, Arvanitis allegedly walked through the village displaying the head to passersby. After police arrived, Arvanitis reportedly threw Karkali's head into a patrol car, knifed an officer, stole another patrol car and ran over two women riding a motorcycle, before being shot five times by police.
