Adam Jones is the Center Fielder for the Baltimore Orioles. He was born August 1, 1985, in San Diego, California. He was drafted in the 1st round (37th pick) of the 2003 Draft by the Seattle Mariners. He was originally drafted to be a pitcher, was then moved to shortstop and finally to the outfield while in the Mariners minor league system. He made his major league debut on July 14, 2006.
In 2006, he played in 32 games, and batted .216 in 76 plate appearances. In 2007, he was brought up for the first time on August 3rd. He hit .246 in 71 plate appearances over 41 games. On February 8, 2008, Jones was traded to the Baltimore Orioles along with George Sherrill, Tony Butler, Kameron Mickolio and Chris Tillman for Erik Bedard.
In 2008, his first year with the Orioles, he finally had the opportunity to play every day. He played in 132 games and hit .270 over 514 plate appearances. Adam Jones 2010 Season
In 2009, he had his best season yet, although injuries may have prevented an even better season. He played in 119 games, hit .277 with 19 home runs, 70 RBI and 83 runs scored. He made his first all star team and was hitting .303 at the All Star Break.
He struggled in August, hitting only .211 and sprained his ankle. On September 8, 2009, he was placed on the 60-day disabled list, retroactive to September 2. He ended up missing the final 29 games of the 2009 season. After the season ended, on November 10, 2009, he was awarded a Gold Glove for his excellent defensive play in center field during the 2009 season.
Jones entered the 2010 season as the Baltimore Orioles everyday center fielder for the once again. He had a good Spring Training, hitting .293 with a team-leading 5 home runs and 12 RBI.
