Competitors
The 2009 Acura TL was designed to compete directly against other luxury sedans on the market, including the BMW 5-Series, Lexus ES, Mercedes E-Class and Volvo S80. The Acura retails for less than its close competitors, however it does feature simply a V6 engine where as its opponents can feature a V8.http://www.leftlanenews.com/acura-tl.html
Reviews
Motor Trend had mixed feelings about the 2009 Acura TL, liking the many features and design of the interior, but disliking the exterior elements. Melissa Spiering summed up the review by noting, "Its symptoms are obvious to most, with a hideous front grille and a ridiculous looking rear end, but what's hidden inside is amazing."http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/oneyear/1009_2009_acura_tl_sh_awd_verdict/index.html
Edmunds.com had similar feelings on the updated model, praising the car for a "spacious cabin," a superb stereo and user-friendly high-tech features, but also noted that the styling of the exterior, especially the front end was "polarizing."http://www.edmunds.com/acura/tl/2009/review.html
2009 Acura TL Road Test
Just after the model was released in late 2008, Motorweek gave the brand new Acura TL 2009 a road test. The host describes the model as a "benchmark sport luxury sedan" that is also a "technological bargain." A number of improvements from the 2008 model are highlighted, including the option for an all-wheel drive system and larger engine. The exterior is also shown, which is described as controversial and aggressive.
