Acne & problem skin can take shape in many forms. This may include pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, pustules or cysts. In severe cases, pustules and cysts may be painful and cause scarring. Potential Acne Causes

  1. Mild acne may be caused by heredity.
  2. Eating chocolate or pizza has been said to cause acne but it does not. However, eating healthier and improving the way your body operates and performs may help to reduce acne.
  3. Another myth is that dirt causes the pores to clog and the trapped dirt causes acne. The truth is that in blackheads, the result is from oxidized oil.
  4. Stress may also lead to an acne breakout as the body reacts to the stress.
  5. Acne may also be present in a woman who is pregnant or completing her menstrual cycle.
  6. Repeated pressure can cause acne such as from a collar, helmet or chinstrap.

Other Types of Problem Skin

Razor rash is another form of skin problem. The medical term for this condition is pseudofolliculitis. This is when hairs curl and protrude back into the skin and cause pimples.
