Abir Sabri is an Egyptian actress and former belly dancer. She retired from secular acting, only to return as an actress guided by conservative Islamic values.

Her choice of roles has been influenced by the financial backing of conservative Islamic groups from Saudi Arabia. Sunni groups have been investing in Egyptian television, making it more conservative in the process.

Sabri says they promised her plenty of work, as long as she cleaned up her acting.
