Abigail Taylor

Categories: News | Health
  • 6-year-old Abigail Taylor, who had part of her intestinal tract damaged by the suction from a wading pool drain in 2007, died on March 20, 2008. She'd been experiencing complications after undergoing triple-organ transplant surgery in December 2007, including a cancerous condition brought on by the transplants.

Since the accident, the Taylor family has campaigned for improved safety regulations that would ensure all swimming pool drains meet anti-entrapment safety standards. Abigail Taylor's father Scott reportedly promised his daughter that he would get the legislation changed, and indeed many lawmakers have been moved to action by the Minnesota girl's story.
