Abhijit Mahato was found shot to death on Friday, January 18, 2008, in his apartment near Duke University. He was a PhD student in Engineering at Duke. On March 12, 2008, police charged Lawrence Alvin Lovett Jr with Abhijit's murder. Lovett has also been charged for the murder of Eve Carson.
