Background
The Aaron's 499 race have had several different names over the years. When the race was first established in 1970 is was named Alabama 500, but was changed to Winston 500 the following year. The name changed three times to (Winston Select 500, DieHard 500 and Talladega 500) before it got it's present name the Aaron's 499.http://www.talladegasuperspeedway.com/This-Is-Talladega/History.aspx The race is named after a chain of lease-to-own stores called Aaron due to a sponsorship agreement. The chain often advertised with "For $99", and therefore it is called the Aaron's 499. http://www.allleftturns.com/nascar-races/aarons-499
