  • Aaron Ward is a professional hockey player originally from Canada. He currently plays for the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League. Ward has won the Stanley Cup three times, twice with the Detroit Red Wings and most recently with the Carolina Hurricanes.
  • Early Years

    Prior to playing in the NHL, Ward attended and played for the University of Michigan. He was drafted fifth overall in the 1991 NHL Draft by the Winnipeg Jets. He continued to attend college, and after graduation, in 1993, he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings. Ward made his NHL debut with the Wings that same year, playing five regular season games. He continued to split his next two seasons between the Wings and their minor league affiliate, the Adirondack Red Wings. Ward earned a full roster spot in 1996, helping the team win back to back Stanley Cup Championships in 1997 and 1998.
  • Recent Years

    Ward was traded by the Wings to the Carolina Hurricanes on July 9, 2001. He won the third Stanley Cup of his career in 2006 with the Hurricanes. Following the season he entered free agnecy and signed with the New York Rangers on July 3, 2006. Ward played 60 games with the Rangers then was traded to the Boston Bruins on February 27, 2007.
