After Mohanlal was convicted of sexually abusing a student, he was sentenced to 43 years in prison. The presiding judge in the 2007 trial granted Mohanlal bond while the former teacher appealed his case. Under terms of the bond agreement, Mohanal was allowed to live and work in the South Florida area. Mohanal did have to register as a sex offender, and wear a GPS monitoring device. Bond Revoked
Aaron Mohanlal was ordered back into state custody by a judge on August 1, 2008. The judge ruled that the collateral put up for the bond, including several homes, was not worth the amount Mohanlal's attorneys originally claimed.
