A Room with a View

  • In A Room with a View English writer Edward Morgan Forster (1879-1970) explores the coming of age of a young woman torn between conventions and passion. During a trip to Italy Lucy Honeychurch feels an attraction to the unconventional George Emerson. Back in England, they meet again, but Lucy's fiancé, the sophisticated Cecil Vyse, now stands between them. Lucy is torn between the two and further confused by the expectations of everyone around her. She almost makes the wrong decision, but in the end manages to find love and happiness. With its vivid characters, humor and light social satire, A Room with a View is a favorite among Forster's readers.
