  • Plot Synopsis

    A Perfect World tells the story of prison escapee Butch Haynes (Kevin Costner) and Police Chief Red Garnett (Clint Eastwood)—the lawman determined to capture him. Haynes takes eight-year-old Phillip Perry (T.J. Lowther) as hostage to help him escape. Criminologist Sally Gerber, played by Laura Dern, helps Garnett in his pursuit of Haynes. In the end, Haynes is not anxious to cross the Texas border to make his getaway, and Garnett is not in a hurry to catch him and put him back behind bars.
