Joseph L. Mankiewicz directed and wrote the screenplay for this 1949 film that reflects on three marriages in the face of news that one of them has ended. A talented ensemble cast included Kirk Douglas, Jeanne Crain, Linda Darnell and Ann Sothern.
Plot Synopsis
On their way out of town on a day trip, Rita Phipps, Deborah Bishop and Lora Mae Hollingsway, played by Ann Southern, Jeanne Crain and Linda Darnell respectively, open a joint letter from Addie Ross (who narrates the story off-screen), saying that she has run off with one of the women's husbands. She does not, however, say which one. This leads the three women to a day of reflection about their marriages as each woman tries to convince herself that Addie could not be talking about her husband.http://www.emanuellevy.com/search/details.cfm?id=2912
