A.J. Pierzynski is a catcher for the Chicago White Sox. Out of high school, the Minnesota Twins selected Pierzynski n the 3rd round of the 1994 amateur draft. After four years in the Twins minor league system, Pierzynski made his major league debut on September 9, 1998. After six seasons with the Twins, which included a 2002 All-Star season, Pierzynskiwas traded to the San Francisco Giants with cash, in exchange for Joe Nathan, Francisco Liriano, and Boof Bonser. Released after one season in San Francisco, Pierzynski signed with the White Sox as a free agent in 2005.
Strengths
Pierzynski is a clutch batter, who hits for power. He is a reliable defensive catcher.[1]
Weaknesses
Pierzynski is not patient enough at the plate to draw many walks. He is not great at throwing out base runners.[1]
