The website Urlesque has proposed September 9, 2009, be declared "A Day Without Cats on the Internet." In response to the overwhelming videos, photos and other Internet memes featuring cats, the site proposes a "web-wide ban on cat-related coverage" for the day.http://www.urlesque.com/2009/09/02/urlesque-announces-a-day-without-cats-on-9-9-09/
To kick off the campaign, Urlesque released a video showing popular Internet cat scenes, including Spaghetti Cat, Keyboard Cat and Nora the Piano Playing Cat, with the felines removed from each image.http://www.urlesque.com/2009/09/02/urlesque-announces-a-day-without-cats-on-9-9-09/
