Synopsis
A Bunch of Amateurs stars Burt Reynolds as an aging, insecure over the hill action star named Jefferson Steel. In an attempt to revitalize his career and give legitimacy to his craft, Steel mistakenly takes a job in England in an amateur charity production.Steel thinks he has an offer to play King Lear at Stratford upon Avon in England. But in reality the role is for a community theatre in Stratford St John, a Suffolk village in England. When he arrives on location he finds the theatre to be an old barn. The local townsfolk want to save the makeshift theatre from closure and a production starring the american action star is the ticket. The film features Sir Derek Jacobi as a local actor who thinks he's an expert at Shakespeare and resents the fact that he is the understudy to an American film star in a British theater classic.
