A Broader View Volunteers (ABV) is a non-profit organization based in Pennsylvania. The organization was founded by Sarah and Oliver Ehlers based on the idea that one person can make a difference. Volunteers are required to provide their own airline tickets and pay a nominal fee to ABV to cover accommodation, meals and other arrangements.
The organization offers short term (1- 4 weeks) and long-term (3 - 6 months), affordable volunteer programs in developing counties worldwide in Central America, South America, Asia and Africa. Opportunities for volunteers include teaching English, animal and environmental conservation, women's issues, animal welfare, medical mission and orphanage assistance. A Broader View looks for volunteers with raining in a range of fields such as medicine, teaching, agriculture, engineering and finance. Volunteers usually live with a host family who have a working relationship with ABV and who are selected based on having a clean, comfortable and secure home.
