Yahoo Q1 Earnings 2008

The Yahoo! First quarter earnings call for 2008 took place on April 22, 2008. Yahoo executives Jerry Yang, Susan Decker and Blake Jorgensen were all present for the call. Yang, Yahoo!'s CEO, discussed gross revenue of the company, stating that it was up 9% from the previous year's report; the figure exceeded many analysts' and speculators' expectations. Yang told investors that the company is "right on track" and that the management of Yahoo is "totally committed to maximizing the value of this asset." Yang emphasized that the proposed acquisition by Microsoft has not been ruled out, stating that Yahoo's board is “open to any and all alternatives including a sale to Microsoft”. Decker was equally open in stating that they are still considering working with Google on a portion of their web advertising business. Despite the better-than-expected earnings report, Yahoo! stock saw only a brief spike over the course of the day the report was given, closing at 0.04% below its starting value.
