Guide Note: Wuthering Heights is the only novel written by Emily Bronte, published under the pseudonym Ellis Bell. It concerns the stormy, cruel, and tragic love affair between wealthy beauty Catherine and poor orphan Heathcliff. A version of the novel that was edited by Charlotte Brontë and included some biographical notes in addition to some of Emily's poems was published after Emily's death.
