Woody Strode
Woody Strode was a National Football League and Canadian Football League player from 1946 to 1949. He was also a professional wrestler and an actor. He was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his role in the film Spartacus.1

Woody Strode attended UCLA, where he played with Kenny Washington and Jackie Robinson. He was also a decathlete.
Professional Athletic Career
In 1946, Strode was a rookie for the Los Angeles Rams. He played in ten games, catching four passes for thirty seven yards and returning one kick for six yards.2 He then played two seasons for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League winning the Grey Cup in 1948.3 Strode retired from football in 1949 and became a professional wrestler in California3
