WipEout 3 is a racing game for the PlayStation developed and published by Psygnosis. It is the third game in the Wipeout series and the final one on the PlayStation console. In some countries, the game was named "Wip3out." The game was one of the first racing titles on the PlayStation to use the analog stick as a way to control the ships in the game. The game was also praised by reviewers for its soundtrack, which featured mostly music from Welsh DJ Sasha.

Gameplay:

WipEout 3 featured a gameplay style similar to F-Zero. Futuristic ships raced around a track against other ships. If a ship suffered too much damage before the race was over, it would crash. However, there were pit stations available where ships could refuel, much like F-Zero. During a race, players could receive weapons, ranging from a life drainer to missiles.

Game modes

WipEout 3 had several game modes, all which centered around racing:

Single Race: Players take part in just one race, battling against another person or the CPU.
Time Trial: Much like a single race, except there's nobody to battle against.
Challenge: There are several challenges. In the Racing Challenge, players must finish first. In the Weapon Challenge, players must destroy a certain amount of opponents. The Time Challenge is much like a time trial. The Combo Challenge is a mixture of all three challenges.
Eliminator: Players have a target goal of 1 to 99. For every ship a player kills, he or she earns 1 point. Also, for every lap completed without being destroyed, a player earns 1 point. The goal is to reach the target amount of points set.
Tournament: Players compete in four races. The player with the most points at the end of the four races is the winner. If there's a tie, then whoever had the best podium finishes is the winner. If there's still a tie, then whoever had the quicker cumulative time is the winner.
